The childhood of Pickler was not a smooth one. The mother she had left at the age of two to escape from the abuse of her partner. Her mother returned in 1995 back to her home and was given complete charge of the child. But it wasn't an enjoyable encounter. When she turned 12, the court returned Pickler to her grandparents who raised her to adulthood. Pickler was unable to parent her children when they were absent. In the absence of parents Pickler was too busy to take classes. Instead she started learning how to look after her family earlier in stage. Pickler was part of her middle school and high school's cheerleading squad. North Stanly High School was which she graduated from in 2004. Pickler has also been a beauty pageant contestant.
